What actually happens in those ten seconds
They tap the table
A phone held near the pebble opens a web page. There is no app to download, no account to make, and nothing to focus a camera on.
The check loads
The open check comes straight from your POS, itemised exactly as the server rang it in. If another round lands after they open it, a refresh brings it through.
They split it
Pay for their own items, take an even share, or type in an amount. Everyone at the table can do this at the same time, each on their own phone.
They tip
Suggested amounts, or a number they choose. Nobody is standing over the table while they decide, which is most of why the figure tends to be higher.
They pay
Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a card. For most guests it is one press of a thumb, because the card is already on the phone.
They are asked for a review
The screen that confirms the payment carries one tap through to your Google listing. The guest has just eaten, just paid, and has their phone in their hand with nothing left to do, which is the best moment anyone will ever get to ask. A printed receipt has never been able to. Ignoring it costs them nothing.
The receipt goes to them
Text or email, their choice. The payment lands on the check in your POS, the balance updates, and the table is settled.

Connect your POS
Sign up and link your POS from a browser. Five minutes, no installer, no hardware swap, and no change to how your servers ring anything in.
The pebbles arrive
One per table, in the mail. They take no power, no pairing and no network of their own, so there is nothing to charge or reboot.
Place one and assign it
Stick it to the table, tap it once yourself, and pick that table's number. A few seconds per table, and you never touch it again.
Paste in your Google Place ID
One field in settings, and the confirmation screen starts sending paid guests to your listing. Skip it and everything else works the same, so it is the one optional step here.
Carry on as normal
Checks are opened, rung in and closed the way they always were. The difference is that some of them are already paid by the time anyone walks over.
The pebble
What the thing on the table is
A small, smooth object that sticks to the table. Inside it is an NFC chip, which is the same technology your guests already use to pay with their phone. It has no battery, no screen and no pairing, because it does not do any computing. It holds a short web address and hands it to a phone that comes close enough.
That address is what connects a table to its check. Nothing about the guest, the order or the payment is stored on the pebble itself. If one goes missing under a banquette, the worst case is that you assign a new one to that table and carry on.
A guest whose phone will not read it can open the same page from the short link printed on the pebble, and a guest who would rather not use a phone at all just asks for the check, exactly as they always have.
